About Us

Mike Burnette has farmed his entire life. After attending one year at Auburn University, he decided to return to home to farm. "Home is where the heart is" definitely describes this farmer.

In 1985, Mike married Mary Charles Jones from Marion, Alabama and a graduate of Judson. College. In 1988, we welcomed a daughter, Jenny and in 1991, a son Jared.

Today, Jenny is a pharmacy technician at a local drugstore and Jared is still in high school. Jared works along with Mike when not in school. He is also involved with the local 4H and is raising and showing registered black angus cows.

Along with a small herd of cows, they have registered boar goats, donkeys, pigs, chickens, and even buffalo on Burnette's farm.

Mike and Mary Charles, along with their family and friends, have become very involved with several retail markets. On Saturdays, they can be found at Pepper Place Market in the Lakeview area of Birmingham. They are better know for their Chilton County peaches, but also have a variety of fruits and vegetables including tomatoes.

Trends of farming have changed drastically over the years and Mike has diversified accordingly. He has seen his ups and downs and continues to strive to meet the demands for the family farm with Mary Charles being his biggest fan.
